Otter alternatives that keep your meetings in the UK or the EU
Otter lists Amazon Web Services in the United States as where it stores customer data. If your meetings need to be kept in the UK or the EU, look at Dot (the UK, the EU or the US, picked at sign-up), Microsoft 365 Copilot (your tenant’s region, which can be the UK), Jamie (Frankfurt), Read AI (an EU deployment, through sales), Gemini in Google Meet (Europe, on the Workspace editions that include data regions) or Fireflies (EU storage on Enterprise).
Where meetings are stored is half the answer. Where the AI that writes the notes works on them is the other half, and it is said less often. We will say it about ourselves: Dot stores meetings in the region you pick, and its notes and answers are written by an AI service in the United States today.

Storage is in the region; the AI processing is not yet. If processing must stay in the UK or the EU as well, Dot does not meet that today.

If the meetings must be stored in the UK, Dot and Microsoft 365 Copilot on a UK tenant are the two here that offer it. If the EU is enough, every option on this page has a way to store them there.
If processing has to stay in the region as well as storage, Read AI says its EU deployment runs its processing there, and Jamie says its processing stays in Europe. Dot does not meet that today: its AI runs in the United States.
Two well-known note takers are not on this list because they keep data in the United States: Granola says it does not offer EU or UK data residency, and Fathom says all data is stored in the United States.

Does UK storage keep every step in the UK?
Not necessarily. Storage and processing are separate, and the AI that writes the notes often runs somewhere else. Ask for the list of companies that handle your meetings and where each one works. For Dot today: stored in the region you pick, transcribed in the EU for UK organisations, and written up by an AI service in the United States.
