Dot for Mac
Dot runs on a Mac with Apple silicon or an Intel processor, on macOS 14.4 or later. Download the disk image for your Mac, drag Dot into Applications, and allow the microphone, system audio and Accessibility when it asks: that is how it hears the whole call and knows who is speaking.
From then on it waits in the menu bar, and when Teams, Zoom or a browser picks up the microphone for a call, it asks whether to listen in.

Which Mac do I have? Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. If it shows a chip, such as Apple M1, choose Apple silicon. If it shows an Intel processor, choose Intel. Dot needs macOS 14.4 or later, which the same window shows.

Install it in three steps
Step 1: Drag Dot into Applications
Open the .dmg file from your Downloads folder, then drag Dot onto the Applications folder in the window that opens.
Step 2: Open Dot
Open Dot from Applications. The first time, macOS asks whether to open an app from the internet: Dot is notarised by Apple, so choose Open.
Step 3: Sign in and allow access
Sign in, or create your account. Then allow the microphone, system audio and Accessibility when Dot asks, so it hears the whole call and knows who is speaking.
What Dot asks your Mac for, and why
macOS asks you about each of these once, and you can change your mind in System Settings, under Privacy & Security.
- Microphone: your side of the call.
- System audio: everybody else on the call, as your Mac plays it. Dot needs macOS 14.4 or later for this.
- Accessibility: the names the meeting app shows for whoever is speaking, so each line of the transcript says who said it.
- Screen Recording, if you allow it: what is shared in the meeting window, so Dot can answer questions about a slide or a document. Dot keeps a note of what was shown, never the picture.
Keeping Dot up to date, and removing it
Dot tells you when a new version is ready and installs it when you choose, or the next time it quits. It never restarts itself while it is listening to a call.
To remove it, quit Dot and move it from Applications to the Bin. Your meetings and notes are kept in your account, not in the app, so nothing is lost.
Questions
Does Dot run on macOS Sonoma or Ventura?
On Sonoma from version 14.4, and on the versions of macOS after it. Not on Ventura or earlier: Dot needs macOS 14.4 to hear the other people on the call.
Is the download safe to open?
Yes. It is signed with Tellme AI Limited’s Apple developer certificate and notarised by Apple, which means Apple has checked it for malicious software, and macOS checks both before it opens.
Can I record a call without Screen Recording turned on?
Yes. Screen Recording only lets Dot read what is shared in the meeting window. Without it Dot still hears the call, names the speakers and writes the notes; it just cannot answer questions about what was on screen.
Does Dot run on an iPhone or iPad?
No. There is no Dot for iPhone or iPad: it runs on the Mac itself, where it can hear the call and read who is speaking.
